Matthew Broussard is an American artist, living in Northern Italy. He was born in Louisiana, and raised in Dallas Texas. After graduating Cum Laude with a degree in sculpture from the Maryland Institute in Baltimore in 1987, he worked as a blacksmith and artist before leaving for Europe. An essential part of his artistic sensibilities were formed during the three years he spent tramping and working across Europe.
Recent exhibitions include: 2005 “DISJOINTED SIGNALS” ArteSì di Laura Cappecchi, Florence, Italy; 2009 “MATTHEW BROUSSARD” DeFreo Gallery, Göthenberg, Sweden; 2011 “REDNECK” Defreo Gallery, Berlin; 2014 “COMMEDIA” Galleria Tornabuoni, Florence; 2015 “@TRIBUTE” Galleria Bucaro, Varese; 2015 “ART WITHOUT BORDERS” Living Art, Hungerford UK. Matthew Broussard has been commissioned to create public works for the cities of Caulounia, Verbania and Cannobio in Italy and in the U.S. his work is held in the permanent collection of the Alexandria Museum of Art in Louisiana.
The artist currently lives near Lago Maggiore in Northern Italy and is represented in Germany and Sweden by the DeFreo gallery group as well as by Galleria Tornabuoni in Florence and by Living Art in England.
